August 10, 2017 - Bandora Mine, Clear Lake

Finally a day with no rain in the forecast!  Jim helped some people work on a slide-out on their RV this morning.  About noon, just the two of us, well three counting Jingles picked up a sandwich at the grocery store and headed out to check out a trail.  We had not been able to get to Clear Lake earlier because of snowdrifts, but made it today.  It was really cold & windy at the lake, so we ended up eating in the Jeep.  After lunch, we came back down and went past the Bandora Mine to South Park.  Top elevation for today was a little over 12, 300 feet.

Today was a day of waterfalls, wildflowers & marmots!
Let's start with some of the waterfalls;
There were several; shot at different places:

Next, here are some mountain shots looking thru wildflowers.
Lots of fireweed today:

Still lots of flowers up by the lake:
Here's beautiful Clear Lake.
It's a popular fishing spot.

Headed down from the lake:

We saw quite a few marmots today;
more than any other day this year.
Standing up, posing:

These are two babies; mom was close by on the right:

Here's the Bandora Mine area.
Silver was first discovered in the 1800s in this area.
The Blanco Mining Co bought Bandora in 1940 and worked the mine into the 1950s.
Miners had to commute from Silverton.

Night falls on another day in the mountains and finds us at Teller House eating Mexican Food!
Good Night to all.
