Saturday, July 22, 2017 - ROSS BASIN, COPPER GREY GULCH & MR MOOSE!!

Looks like another cold, rainy day, but we attempted a trail anyhow.  Charles & Jane, Dale, Betty & Eli and we took a drive to Ross Basin where there are several old mines where mostly lead & zinc were mined.  Our top elevation was just a little over 12,000 feet.  We were rained on pretty much all day so most of these shots are thru a wet windshield.

Still lots of EPA clean-up going on from the Gold King Mine blowout:
These plastic bags are full of toxic water from the creek:
 One of the settling ponds:
Trail to Ross Basin:

Good view of two of the Red Mountains:
Too many sharp drop-offs here to let Jingles run off-leash:
Several water crossings

 Chiming Bells:

Today's lunch spot is Copper Grey Gulch near the Red Mountains
Still raining so we ate in the Jeeps

Spotted these two deer thru the windshield:
The others went on to Minnehaha, but we headed home with a detour
by the South Mineral "Moose Pond."
Not only was Mr. Moose out, but he was up close by the creek instead of in the pond:
