We figured the trail was probably
finally open to Clear Lake. Nope! Got almost to the lake, only to be blocked by
a snowdrift. Some yahoos have made their
own path across the tundra beside the snowdrift (so not legal - hefty
fine). When a member of our group
pointed that out to them, they told us to "tell somebody who
cares." So we are - we are going to
report it to the BLM (Bureau of Land Management). It's people like this that cause trails to be
closed to vehicles.
The trail starts off thru a spruce/pine
forest with great views of the trail going to the Bandora Mine. It's
an easy ledge road with several wide spots for passing. As you climb above the timberline, the ledge
road become a lot more rocky and there are fewer places to turn around. There are several waterfalls - all the water
comes from the beautiful Clear Lake. No
lake picture today.
The others went onto Bandora and saw a big moose on the way back. :(

Road leading to the trail:
A baby Aspen searching for sunlight:
Random wildflowers:
Looking down at Charles and Dale navigating a switchback near an
old abandoned mine; snow on the side:
Smaller lake before Clear Lake:
There is as much "waterfall" below this falls as what is showing here:
Okay, if anybody recognizes these Jeeps or this man, help us
report to BLM (kept his tag covered up):
This tag could be JGANES4 or JGANESH.
We are thinking J Ganes the 4th??
Jerk, sitting on the trail cut thru the tundra.
The snow to the right is the actual trail which curves to the right:
And yes, Jingles did get a snow run in before we came back down!
