Sunday, July 9, 2017 - U S BASIN & THE SILVER MINE

Jim and I went solo today.  Everyone else left earlier and I guess we were being too lazy to be ready in time.  We went back to US Basin, an easy ride.  Earlier in the year, we were blocked by snow, but were able to complete the trail today.  We were in sunshine, rain, and sleet at one time or another.  Had to put our coats on to have our picnic lunch.

We had lunch while Jingles raced around in the snow:
Enlarge & see the ice crystals on her nose:
This ride has some amazing views:

Heart-shaped patch of snow:

Looking across the highway to other trails:

Jingles in the Jeep because she was a bad dog!
She ran away from us, wouldn't come when called, & jumped up on some hikers.
Lucky for her that there German Shepard was docile and not protective of his owners!!!

I just liked this view with the wildflowers & dead tree stump:

Next, we decided to re-visit the Silver Mine across the highway.
Surprisingly, we were able to get thru.

Driving across the waterfall:
This is the exact spot on a ledge road where we and two other Jeeps had to
turn around one year because of a snow drift:
Jingles, on a leash!!, getting her muddy legs cleaned.
She got muddy when she greeted the hikers earlier.

 Headed down and home:
